A plumber by trade

Older brother of Derek, BCR, drummer

Left BCR in 1976 to be replaced by Ian Mitchell.

Alan returned to the band in 1978.

Alan played the lead role in Burnin' Rubber in 1981.  This was a film about motor racing and was filmed in South Africa.

In recent years Alan has suffered with his health and suffered a heart attack in 1995 and a stroke in 1997.

Tam Paton claimed that Alan at one point attempted to take his own life.

Alan now lives with his wife Eileen in Scotland.
